The International Peace Support Operations Training Centre (IPSO-TC), a Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) training school in Nakaseke, has concluded a demanding 12-day Mission Readiness Exercise (MRX), with Commandant Colonel Moses Nabaasa hailing Battle Group XLV trainees for their outstanding endurance and commitment.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, where each day of training symbolised a month of operational deployment, Col Nabaasa said, “It’s your dedication and commitment that ensured endurance was perfect.” He urged the soldiers to remain physically fit, maintain high discipline, sustain morale, stay healthy and uphold combat readiness to succeed in their upcoming mission.
Col Nabaasa also applauded the leadership of the UPDF under President and Commander-in-Chief Gen (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, noting that the force’s professionalism stems from visionary guidance and support.
Colonel John Bosco Kwoba, Training and Operations Officer of the 2 Infantry Division and leader of the external observers’ team, praised the trainees’ performance. “I’m impressed by the readiness shown through demonstrations and I have no doubt that if you go to the mission area you will do a great job,” he said, encouraging them to continue rehearsing vital skills.
Battle Group XLV Commander Colonel Justus Musenene commended the soldiers for their cooperation and teamwork throughout the exercise. He also thanked the IPSO-TC training staff for their dedication, pledging to uphold the standards achieved.
The MRX strengthened the battle group’s capabilities in planning, situational assessment, IED (Improvised Explosive Device) and Counter – IED awareness, media management, and Civil-Military activities, among other key operational skills.
The ceremony drew senior and junior UPDF officers as well as other ranks, reflecting the importance of mission readiness in preparing troops for deployment.
Col Nabaasa’s emphasis on discipline, physical fitness and combat preparedness reaffirmed the UPDF’s drive to maintain a capable and professional force.
