184 Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces officers attending the Company Commanders Course at the School of Infantry, Bihanga, concluded a five-day nationwide study tour that covered several UPDF formations including the Air Force Headquarters in Entebbe, the Field Artillery Division Headquarters in Masindi, and the Armoured and Field Engineering facilities in Kalama, before ending at the Mountain Warfare Training School (MWTS) in Karugutu, Ntoroko District.
Speaking at the Mountain Warfare Training School, the Commandant, Col Kiyengo, commended the initiative, describing it as a practical and enriching experience that broadens the trainees’ understanding of military operations.
He emphasised that such engagements are vital for building professionalism and enhancing officers’ knowledge.
“Training initiatives like this are practical and broaden the trainees’ understanding with enhanced knowledge. It should be a continuous process to shape and improve the careers of our officers,” Col Kiyengo said.
The Chief Instructor, School of Infantry-Bihanga, Col Ssebagala, who led the delegation throughout the tour, explained that the exercise was designed to help students gain practical exposure to how different combat arms support infantry operations in all phases of war, especially in modern contexts.
This intake of the Company Commanders Course is scheduled to graduate later this year
