The Deputy Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), Brigadier General Godfrey Muwanguzi, has engaged leaders and stakeholders in Luwero District on the implementation of government development programmes at the Luwero District Headquarters,
Brig Gen Muwanguzi urged communities to make effective use of existing security structures and promptly report security concerns to the relevant authorities.
“Communities should make proper use of the security structures available to them and report security concerns promptly so that they can be addressed,” Brig Gen Muwanguzi said.
He emphasised the need for mindset change and encouraged communities to fully utilise the seven pillars of the PDM to improve household incomes and livelihoods.
Brig Gen Muwanguzi assured the leaders that the concerns raised during the engagement would be presented to the relevant authorities for consideration and appropriate action.
During the meeting, leaders highlighted challenges affecting the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga and OWC, including livestock theft, prolonged drought, inadequate irrigation infrastructure, limited fish ponds and limited markets for agricultural produce.
The leaders also called for increased investment in agro-processing and value addition to improve farmers’ incomes and create sustainable markets for agricultural products.
The engagement brought together district officials, agricultural, veterinary and fisheries officers, farmers and other stakeholders from Greater Luwero.
