The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) non-commissioned Officers approaching retirement have been urged to remain vigilant against potential scams targeting their pensions and gratuities.
The warning comes as these soldiers prepare to retire at the end of the month.
The message was delivered by Lt Col Onesmus Amanya, Deputy Director in charge of Pensions, during an ongoing documentation and sensitisation exercise for Non-Commissioned Officers from the UPDF Air Force, Special Forces Command, Jinja, and Magamaga Cantonment at Gadaffi Barracks, Jinja.
He encouraged the soldiers to support one another, especially during challenging times such as funeral expenses, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and mutual assistance for their collective progress.
Lt Col Amanya reassured the retirees that the payment process has significantly improved, ensuring timely and hassle-free disbursements without unnecessary intermediaries.
