The National Organising Committee of the Inter-Forces Competition has commended the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 4 Infantry Division for its preparations to host the 18th edition of the annual competition.
During a meeting held at the Division Headquarters, the competition’s technical team applauded the host division for the progress made, particularly at the shooting range, in line with previous technical guidance provided.
On behalf of the 4 Infantry Division Commander, the Deputy Division Commander, Colonel Richard Obura Kidega, assured the organising committee of the division’s commitment to hosting a successful competition.
“We are ready. We assure you of our total commitment to hosting a successful competition. We also assure you of security, safety and serenity throughout the event,” Col Kidega said.
Speaking on behalf of the technical team, Lt Col John Kulu said the committee was satisfied with the level of preparedness exhibited by the division.
“We came here to confirm the state of readiness, but from what we have seen and heard from the host, we are so far satisfied with what has been done,” Lt Col Kulu said.
The technical team, comprising representatives from the UPDF, Uganda Police Force (UPF), Uganda Prisons Service (UPS), and Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), was taken on a guided tour of St Joseph Laibi Grounds, the venue for the ball games and the official opening ceremony.
This year’s competition is expected to feature eight disciplines, including shooting, men’s football, netball, volleyball, athletics, handball and Taekwondo for both men and women.
The previous edition of the competition was hosted by the Uganda Police Force at the Kabalye Police Training School.
