The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Land Force has received a new Director of Political Commissariat following the handover of office from Colonel Benon Asaba to Colonel Anatoli Nuwagira at the Land Forces Headquarters in Bombo.
The handover ceremony was presided over by the Director of Human Resource Management (DHRM), Brig Gen Emmanuel Ewama Ayuk, who urged the outgoing and incoming directors to uphold exemplary leadership and set a positive example for junior personnel.
Brig Gen Ewama said the conduct and performance of senior officers have a direct bearing on the personnel they lead.
He encouraged the Political Commissariat to continue supporting and facilitating training opportunities for soldiers, describing the department as a critical component of the Army in promoting political education, ideology, discipline and morale.
Col Asaba thanked the UPDF leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the Political Commissariat and appreciated the various directorates for their cooperation and support during his tenure.
Reflecting on his tenure, Col Asaba said he was confident that the department had contributed to strengthening conscious discipline and morale among soldiers through ideological education and hard work.
In his remarks, Col Nuwagira he would strengthen political education and ideological orientation within the Land Forces to further promote conscious discipline, cohesion and professionalism among UPDF personnel.
The ceremony was attended by directors at Land Force Headquarters, including the Director of Operations, Director of Legal Services and Director of Sensors, alongside junior officers and other military personnel.
