The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Land Force has witnessed a change of leadership in the office of Director Human Resource Management, with Brigadier General Edward Mutawe handing over to Colonel Emmanuel Ewama at the Land Force Headquarters. Brig Gen Mutawe was recently appointed as Uganda’s Defence Attaché to Ethiopia
The handover ceremony was presided over by the Chief of Staff Land Forces, Brigadier General Chris Bagonza.
Brig Gen Bagonza commended both the outgoing and incoming officers for their service and dedication to the UPDF, noting that leadership transitions are a normal part of institutional continuity. He urged officers to remain focused on their duties and uphold professionalism.
“There is no Alpha and Omega in this office. Another person can always come and continue with the work that has been done; therefore, nobody should think they are irreplaceable,” Brig Gen Bagonza said, and encouraged the incoming director to execute his responsibilities with commitment and professionalism.
In his remarks, Brig Gen Mutawe expressed appreciation to the Chief Joint Staff Land Forces and the various departments for their support during his tenure. He encouraged his successor to follow up on ongoing projects closely and wished him success in his new assignment.
Col Emmanuel Ewama, who previously served as Administrative Officer of the 1 Infantry Division, thanked the UPDF leadership for the trust placed in him. He pledged to serve diligently and focus on improving personnel welfare and administration within the Land Force and the UPDF as a whole.
Present were directors and heads of departments within the Land Force Headquarters.
