Troops of Battle Group Forty Five (BGXLV) have been urged to maintain discipline and professionalism as they prepare for their upcoming peacekeeping mission in Somalia.
Brigadier General Fred Mwesigye, acting Commander 1 Infantry Division, made the remarks during the closing of the two-week pre-mission ideology course at the International Peace Support Operations Training Centre (IPSO-TC) in Nakaseke District. He stressed that discipline is the foundation for success in military operations.
“There is no shortcut to success. Maintain discipline at all times,” Brig. Gen. Mwesigye advised. He added that loyalty, respect, and good health are essential qualities of a disciplined soldier. He also encouraged trainees to practice financial literacy and save for personal development.
The Commandant of IPSO-TC, Colonel Moses Nabaasa, congratulated the trainees on completing the course, commending their commitment, dedication, and adherence to discipline throughout the training.
Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Lieutenant Colonel Morris Kyatooko Twongeirwe, second-in-command of Battle Group Forty Five, pledged that the soldiers would uphold the values learned and maintain the good image of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
The closing ceremony was attended by the Chief Instructor and senior and junior officers of IPSO-TC.
