
Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) officers have been urged to embrace training as the foundation of professionalism and operational success.

The call was made by Brig Gen Wycliff Keita, Joint Staff Training and Doctrine, during the handover and takeover of the Commandant of the International Peace Support Operations Training Centre (IPSO–TC) in Nakaseke District. The ceremony marked the transition of command from Brig Gen Patrick John Otongo to Col Moses Nabaasa.
Brig Gen Keita stressed that continuous training is vital for effective performance both during foreign missions and in routine duties. He commended the outgoing and incoming commandants, encouraging them to uphold professionalism and fly the UPDF and Uganda’s flag high.
In his remarks, Brig Gen Otongo expressed gratitude to the UPDF leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility of command at IPSO–TC.

Col Nabaasa thanked the leadership for his appointment and pledged to maintain the centre’s high training standards. He called for teamwork and cooperation to ensure smooth operations and effective service delivery.
The function was attended by senior officers, including Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso, Chief of Staff URDC; Col David Watasa, Chief Instructor IPSO–TC; and Col Justus Musenene, Battle Group Commander XLV, among others.
