Staff from the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MoDVA)/Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Joint Headquarters held a friendly football match with the National Defence College–Uganda (NDC-U) in Jinja to promote physical fitness and strengthen comradeship between the two institutions.
NDC-U won the match 6-2.
The Commandant of NDC-U, Brigadier General Alex Opolot Olupot, said the sporting encounter was intended to promote discipline, interaction and reunion among personnel, adding that sportsmanship was as important as winning.
“When you have a problem, you have to be happy; the same applies to winning. As a college, we welcome our brothers and sisters from MoDVA,” he said.
Brig Gen Olupot added that the match reinforces the Chief of Defence Forces’ initiative to keep personnel physically fit.
Representing the MoDVA team, Tumugumye Caleb thanked NDC-U for hosting the team and extending a warm reception in Jinja. He said the match had strengthened comradeship between the two institutions.
The match was attended by UPDF Generals and senior officers from NDC-U, alongside members of the MoDVA team.
