The Commander Artillery Division and Chairman of the Board of Governors of Masindi Army Secondary and Primary Schools, Major General Daniel Kakono, has encouraged candidates to approach their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations with confidence, discipline and a calm mindset.
Maj Gen Kakono made the remarks while leading members of the Board of Governors and the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) Executive Committee during a briefing for 477 UCE candidates at the school’s main hall.
He urged the candidates to equip themselves with knowledge and approach each examination systematically, expressing confidence that they would excel based on the school’s strong academic record.
He noted that Masindi Army Secondary School had previously emerged as the best-performing army school in the country and the best school in Masindi District.
“Passion and wisdom are powerful weapons that can help you accomplish your goals. Seek your passions and be wise enough to use your success for the greater good,” Maj Gen Kakono said.
He cautioned both teachers and candidates against examination malpractice, stressing that such practices could undermine the candidates’ future, while commending teachers for their efforts in preparing the learners.
Maj Gen Kakono also appreciated the Head Teacher, Maj Romunus B. Tazzy, teachers and parents for their continued support towards the school’s academic performance.
Quoting Joshua 1:9, he encouraged the candidates to remain strong and courageous, reminding them that they should not be afraid because God would be with them wherever they go.
Meanwhile, Pastor Pimundu Justine, who led the candidates in prayer, encouraged them to dedicate themselves to God during and after the examination period and make time to pray for wisdom and good health.
“Trust your ability and do not engage in any form of malpractice because it could cost you your entire future career,” Pastor Pimundu said.
The school administration, led by Maj Tazzy, formally handed over the candidates to the UCE examination authorities, who briefed them on examination rules, codes of conduct and good practices.
The examination officials emphasised the importance of carefully reading and following instructions, understanding questions and maintaining good handwriting as key practices that could contribute to better performance.
The briefing was attended by the Division Political Commissar, Maj Onesmas Kakuru; representatives from various departments; PTA Chairman Byaruhanga Victor Ojok; the UCE invigilation team; teaching staff and the candidates.
