The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) will hold the second edition of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Interforces Drill Competitions from 22 to 25 August 2026 at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
The event will be held under the theme, “Precision, Discipline and Cohesion: Pillars of National Resilience and Transformation,” building on the inaugural edition held in May 2025.
The competition will bring together 40 teams drawn from various UPDF formations and units, comprising senior and junior officers, warrant officers and other ranks.
Addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Centre, the Deputy Director of Defence Public Information, Colonel Henry Obbo, said the competition will showcase a range of drill routines, including sword and crop-stick drills, pace sticks, cane sticks and foot drills, among others.
He said the competition is intended to promote excellence and precision in military drills, enhance operational readiness, and strengthen cooperation and camaraderie among the different branches of the Force while showcasing the UPDF’s traditions and values.
“This is going to be yet another entertaining moment that you should not miss to watch,” Col Obbo said.
Col Obbo encouraged the public to attend and support the event, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen relations between the military and the communities it serves.
The competition will feature traditional individual and team drill routines alongside creative displays, including theme-based and formation drills, synchronised performances, music integration, storytelling and dance elements.
