The week-long 4 Infantry Division Commander’s Cup in football and netball ended on Friday at the Division Barracks grounds in Gulu, with the Division Headquarters emerging champions both in football and netball.
Maj Gen Felix Busizoori, the Division Commander, commended the teams for the high level of discipline displayed throughout the tournament.

He noted that the competition aimed to identify talent, strengthen the unit, and select teams to represent the Division in the Chief of Defence Forces Cup in May 2026 and the Uganda Wildlife Authority tournament.
“Our goal is to identify talent, build unity and prepare teams for upcoming national competitions,” Maj Gen Busizoori said.
He pledged continued support to the athletes through improved sports equipment and facilitation.
He urged commanders across the Division to allocate regular training time for their players so they can maintain fitness and improve their skills.
In football, Headquarters faced 101 Battalion in a tightly contested final that ended in a 4–2 penalty victory for 101 Battalion, earning them the 2025 Division Commander’s Cup title.
In netball, Headquarters defeated Gulu Army Secondary School 43–17 to claim the championship of the second edition of the tournament.
Lemi Bosco of the 501 Brigade was named the top scorer in football, while Asinduru Never finished as the leading scorer in netball with 34 goals.
The closing ceremony was attended by senior and junior officers as well as militants from across the Division formations.
