The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has officially opened Junior Staff Course Intake 36/2025–2026 at the Junior Staff College Gaddafi.
Opening the course, College Commandant Brig Gen Chris Ogwal said the intake comprises student officers drawn from various UPDF units, ranging in rank from Captain to Major.
He explained that the four-month programme is designed to prepare junior officers for staff appointments by sharpening their analytical and communication skills.
“The training will enhance officers’ understanding of the art and science of war, improve leadership abilities, and promote cooperation between services,” Brig Gen Ogwal stated. He added that the course would equip participants to operate in joint and combined arms environments and to apply their knowledge for the advancement of the UPDF.
Brig Gen Ogwal urged the student officers to maintain discipline and integrity throughout the training.
During the same event, Brig Gen Michael Kabango, Commandant of the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka, led a delegation of UPDF officers to inspect ongoing infrastructure projects at the college. He commissioned the newly renovated and expanded Central Lecture Hall, now seating 150 students, and toured the war game theatre under construction, syndicate rooms, directing staff offices, and refurbished dormitories.
