The Chief of Staff – Air Force, Brig Gen David Gonyi, has called on spouses of Air Force personnel to remain vigilant and avoid being swayed by divisive and deceptive political rhetoric ahead of the upcoming elections.
Speaking during a symposium held at the Air Force Headquarters in Entebbe, Brig Gen Gonyi urged the spouses not to be swayed by candidates who promote tribalism and division. The symposium, organised by the Air Force Political Commissariat, aimed to equip families of soldiers with a sound understanding of political ideology and national unity.
He encouraged them to emulate the teamwork demonstrated by their partners in uniform.
He urged the families to take advantage of initiatives in the education sector for both soldiers’ children and the general public, and the Presidential Support Fund (PSF), which he said is aimed at improving the welfare of soldiers’ families.
Brig Gen Gonyi encouraged military families to utilise military facilities, warning against the financial burden of seeking expensive private services when military institutions offer quality alternatives.
Ms. Lynette Lucy, the Chairperson of the Air Force Soldiers’ Spouses, urged fellow spouses to support their partners’ decisions, noting that soldiers often make sacrifices informed by a broader national interest.
The symposium was attended by senior commanders, directors, and department heads from across the Air Force and spouses of soldiers.
