The Deputy Commander Land Force, Maj Gen Francis Takirwa, has presided over the handover of the office of Director of Operations – Land Force (D/OPNS-LF), as Col John Katamba Siyaleta assumed the role from Brig Gen Paddy Jackson Kajuba.
The ceremony took place at the Land Force Headquarters in Bombo, Luweero District.
In his remarks, Maj Gen Takirwa commended Brig Gen Kajuba for his leadership and described the directorate as one of the most active and demanding offices within the UPDF. He stressed the need for innovation and digital transformation in operational planning and execution.
“I once served in this office and know how demanding it is. We must continue modernising how we operate,” he said.
Brig Gen Kajuba, in his farewell address, highlighted the strategic importance of the directorate in ensuring operational efficiency across the Land Forces. He acknowledged existing challenges but expressed confidence in his successor’s ability to address them.
He now moves on to serve as the Deputy Commander of the Armoured Division in Masaka.
Col Siyaleta, the incoming director, thanked the UPDF leadership for their trust and pledged to build on the work of his predecessor.
“We are not starting from zero. My experience in various directorates of the UPDF has prepared me for this assignment,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by several senior officers, including Brig Gen Edward Mutawe, Director of Human Resource Management – Land Force; Col Steven Malinga, Director of Logistics; and other senior officers.
