The exercise for all four participating districts, namely: Dokolo, Kalaki, Kaberamaido, and Amolatar was conducted at the Dokolo District Headquarters.
Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Dokolo, Mrs. Akech Barbra, congratulated the shortlisted applicants for making it through the initial selection, noting that the new transparent system ensured that shortlisting was done from Kampala. “I encourage you not to be discouraged if you are not selected today. The recruitment happens every year, and as long as you are within the age bracket, you can reapply. If you are beyond the age limit, you can still join the UPDF as a professional after acquiring the necessary qualifications,” Mrs. Akech said.
She urged candidates to remain disciplined, describing the UPDF as a force where instructions are followed without question.
In his remarks to the recruits, Kalaki Deputy RDC Mr. Opio Patrick Bosco reminded them that the army is a professional institution that demands patriotism and commitment. “For those who join, your professions will be valued, and you will be deployed according to your skills. Love Uganda, love yourself, and love one another,” Mr. Opio said.
