Hundreds Turn Up As UPDF Recruitment Exercise Enters Final Day

Hundreds of qualified applicants have turned up at Kololo Independence Grounds as the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) recruitment exercise entered its final day.

The nationwide recruitment exercise is aimed at filling personnel gaps created by retirement and the completion of service by other members of the force.

The final verification exercise in Kampala was conducted by Team Two of Kampala Extra led by Brigadier General Allan Kalanzi.

According to Captain David Kamya, the spokesperson for Team Two of Kampala Extra, the response from applicants has been encouraging.

“The response from Ugandans has been very encouraging. We have received hundreds of qualified and patriotic young Ugandans who are eager to serve their country,” Capt. Kamya said.

He said the exercise was being conducted transparently and in accordance with the established recruitment standards.

“We are ensuring that every candidate is thoroughly verified and only those who meet the required educational and medical standards are recruited,” Capt. Kamya said.

In mid-July, the UPDF announced 10,400 vacancies for regular recruits and professionals. Regular recruitment targeted Ugandans aged between 18 and 22 years who hold a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
