Fifty-four shortlisted candidates from Busiro North and Busiro South met the requirements to join the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) following a recruitment exercise held at Wakiso District headquarters on Friday, August 14, 2026.

A total of 93 candidates reported for the exercise, which was led by Brigadier General Allan Kalanzi. Of those assessed, 54 qualified for enlistment, while 15 were disqualified and 24 failed the mandatory medical screening.

The successful candidates met the required educational, physical, disciplinary and medical standards set by the UPDF.

The recruitment exercise is part of the third phase of the UPDF’s 2026 General Recruitment Programme, which seeks to enlist personnel for both regular and professional categories.

The 2026 recruitment drive targets applicants with skills in fields including information and communication technology, engineering, logistics, aviation, health services, teaching, social sciences, sports and music.

Physical recruitment will continue across the country until August 22, 2026, with shortlisted candidates expected to report to designated recruitment centres in their respective districts.

Applicants have been cautioned against paying money to agents or intermediaries, as the recruitment process is free of charge.

The recruitment exercise in Wakiso will continue with shortlisted candidates from Busiro East, before proceeding to other areas, including Nansana, Makindye-Sabagabo, Entebbe Municipality, Kiira Municipality, Kyadondo East, Mukono and surrounding districts.
