NDC-U Participants Tap Makerere’s E-Library Resources For Research

Participants of the fifth intake of the National Defence College – Uganda (NDC-U) visited Makerere University (MAK) Library for a familiarisation tour of its electronic library services.

The visit was aimed at equipping the participants with knowledge of the library’s electronic resources and services to support their academic work, reading and research.

The delegation was led by the NDC-U Dean of Studies, Brigadier General Kefa Nangeso, who thanked Makerere University for hosting the participants and granting NDC-U access to the university’s extensive library resources and facilities.

“I appreciate MAK for partnering with us through its resources, facilities and personnel to help us advance academically in research and e-library services, among others. We are also grateful for allowing our course participants to use the library as they pursue their academic programmes,” Brig Gen Nangeso said.

Brig Gen Nangeso encouraged the participants to make full use of Makerere University’s library resources and expertise, particularly the support provided by its staff in conducting research and identifying credible academic references.

The Deputy University Librarian at Makerere University, Dr Ongaya Kizito, commended the UPDF for promoting professionalism and continuous learning among its personnel.

Dr Ongaya noted that the UPDF’s emphasis on professional development had contributed to the Force’s effectiveness in various areas, including responses to public health emergencies such as COVID-19 and Ebola, as well as infrastructure development through its engineering formations.

The visit was attended by Prof Murindwa Rutanga, Head of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies at Makerere University; Brig Gen Dr S. Kusasira, Head of Policy and Security Studies at NDC-U; and other officials from Makerere University and NDC-U.
