The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has donated assorted food items to Muslim communities, including members of the Al-Wihida Development Group in Bukesa Katende Zone, Nakulabye, ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
The donation was delivered by the Head of Plans in the Directorate of Civil-Military Cooperation, Colonel John Bosco Kalyango, who called on Muslims to maintain the spirit of peace observed during Ramadan even after the fasting period ends.
According to Col Kalyango, the donation followed a request from Hajjat Nakizito Ramulatu, who leads the Al-Wihida Development Group, asking the UPDF to support her community during the Ramadhan period.
“We welcomed the idea and ensured that the UPDF shares the little it has with the community, as part of our commitment to serve beyond self,” he said.
Hajjat Nakizito commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his leadership and for fostering discipline within the UPDF, noting that she was able to access support without difficulty.
She expressed appreciation to Maj Gen Henry Masiko for responding to her request and facilitating the donation.
Residents of Bukesa Katende Zone Nakulabye welcomed the support and expressed gratitude to the UPDF for the timely assistance.
The event was attended by UPDF officers and residents.
