The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Armoured Division has donated 100 bags of cement to support the completion of a hospital structure at Masaka Mosque.
The donation was delivered by Lt. Col. Charles Lubega on behalf of the Division Commander, Maj. Gen. Deus Sande, who made the pledge during the Iddi Adhuha celebrations earlier this year.
Receiving the donation, the District Kadhi of the Greater Masaka region, Sheikh Badru Wasajja Kiruuta, together with members of the Muslim community, commended Maj Gen Sande and the entire UPDF for their continued support toward community development without discrimination.
Speaking on behalf of the Division Commander, Gen Sande, Lt Col Lubega said the contribution demonstrates the UPDF’s commitment to strengthening civil-military cooperation. He urged members of the Muslim community to embrace government programs such as Emyooga and the Parish Development Model (PDM) to help eradicate poverty in their households and communities.
The event was attended by religious leaders, mosque administrators, the Division Political Commissar, the Division Public Information Officer, and members of the Muslim community from the Greater Masaka region.
