UPDF Soldiers Urged To Embody Patriotism And Excellence

Major General Don Nabasa, Commander of the 3 Division of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), has called on soldiers to stay focused and dedicated to strengthening a professional force built on the foundation laid by the institution’s founding commanders and leaders.

While presiding over the pass-out of 1,225 soldiers who completed various military courses -Arty man level III , AD man level III and weapon Technical T-III at the School of Artillery And Air Defence (SAAD) in Olilim, Katakwi district, Maj Gen Nabasa urged the soldiers to uphold the core values of discipline, patriotism, integrity, and professionalism as they continue serving the nation.

 

“Your contribution is of great importance in delivering security services to your country,” Maj Gen Nabasa reminded them, highlighting UPDF’s commitment to continuous training, especially during peacetime, to strengthen Uganda’s defence capabilities and support regional peace initiatives.

Col Ali Kiiza Kasauli, Director of Anti-Aircraft at the Land Force headquarters, encouraged the soldiers to apply their newly acquired skills and knowledge in their deployments.

 

“This milestone lays a strong foundation for you to take on more internal and external courses, ensuring your readiness to meet evolving challenges,” Col Kasauli said.

The Commandant of SAAD, Col Rogers Dhikusoka Kitwala, expressed gratitude to the UPDF leadership, partner training institutions, and local leaders for their support and cooperation.

Lt Col Johnson Mwesigye, DOTO FAD underscored the importance of teamwork, adaptability and accuracy noting that their expertise as the gunners forms the backbone of a strong military.

Twenty-two soldiers who excelled during the training were honoured with awards for their outstanding performance.

 

The ceremony was attended by Brig Gen Chris Ogwal, Commandant of the Junior Staff College (JSC); Col Herbert Mwetegye, Commander of Ground-Based Air Defence (GBAD), Col Alex Ejangu, 206 AAC Brigade Commander, Col JB Katongole, commandant SOST, Col JB Rukundo, 3 DOTO, district and community leaders, among other dignitaries.
