Promoted UPDF Air Force Officers Urged To Embrace Teamwork And Excellence

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces Air Force (UPDF-AF) decorated 71 senior and junior officers at a ceremony held at its Entebbe headquarters, following their promotion by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Lieutenant General Charles Okidi, the Commander Air Force presided over the event, where the highest-ranking officer was elevated to Brigadier General and junior officers to Lieutenant.

 

In his address, Lt Gen Okidi congratulated the officers and stressed the importance of hard work, discipline, and professional growth. He urged them to pursue training opportunities, a key factor in promotion considerations.

 

“For those whose names have not yet appeared, the culture of the UPDF dictates that more names will follow. Do not lose hope. Excel in your assignments, as the Air Force leadership recognises every officer’s contribution and ensures due rewards in due time,” he said.

 

Highlighting the value of collaboration, he added, “If you want to run a long race, move with others; that’s when you will go far.”

Lt Gen Okidi also called on the officers to seek knowledge, uphold Air Force values, and adhere strictly to its creed.

 

Brigadier General Richard Rubongoya, UPDF – AF Director of Human Resource Management, echoed the sentiment, reminding the officers that dedication leads to recognition.

The ceremony was attended by Wing Commanders, Directors, and personnel from across the service.
