62 SFC Officers Decorated In Recognition Of Service And Commitment

Sixty-two officers of the Special Forces Command (SFC) have been decorated to their newly promoted ranks in recognition of their service, commitment and professional conduct.

The officers — 15 senior and 47 junior — were decorated during a ceremony presided over by the SFC Commander, Maj Gen Asaph Mwetise Nyakikuru, at the SFC Headquarters in Entebbe.

Congratulating the officers, Maj Gen Nyakikuru said promotion comes with increased responsibility, accountability and expectation. He urged them to lead by example, uphold discipline and professionalism, mentor junior personnel, and continuously acquire knowledge and skills to remain adaptable to the demands of modern military operations.

He further challenged them to translate their new ranks into improved operational readiness, training, physical fitness and professional competence while maintaining cohesion within their formations.

The Deputy Commander and Inspector General of SFC, Brig Gen John Bosco Asinguza, advised the officers to exercise authority with courage, humility, justice and restraint, noting that greater responsibility demands greater accountability.

“Your strength will matter a lot, but most importantly, your character upon the rise in ranks will matter even more,” Brig Gen Asinguza said.

He also acknowledged the contribution of spouses and families, noting that their sacrifice, prayers and unwavering support form an important foundation for the officers’ service.

Speaking on behalf of the decorated officers, Lt Col Nicholas Kagaba, Commander of the 17th Field Engineers Brigade, expressed appreciation to the UPDF leadership for recognising their service and pledged continued commitment to serve Uganda with loyalty, integrity, discipline and courage.

He urged his fellow officers to use their new authority to build themselves, develop those under their command, and contribute to strengthening the UPDF.

The ceremony was attended by SFC group and brigade commanders and their deputies, the Director Human Resources, Col Night Ikiriza, who read the promotion citations, as well as other directors, officers, NCOs and spouses.
