The Government of Uganda will host the Extraordinary Summit of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) Troop-Contributing Countries (TCCs) from 29th to 31st July 2026 in Kampala.
The event will begin on Wednesday, 29 July with the Chie Defence Forces’ meeting, followed by the Ministers of Defence meeting on Thursday 30 July, and conclude on 31 July, with the Summit of Heads of State and Government.
The summit will be attended by the Heads of State and Government of Troop-Contributing Countries. They include; Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, and Somalia. In additional, senior officials from the United Nations, – among them the Under-Secretary for Peacekeeping Operations, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia, and the Head of the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS)-will participate.
The Africa Union will also be represented by the Commission Chairperson, the Commissioner for Peace and Security, and the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia and Head of AUSSOM. Furthermore, the Deputy Executive Secretary General of IGAD will attend, reflecting the regional organisation’s vital role in supporting peace and security in Somalia.
The theme for this year’s summit is:“To Sustain the Stabilisation Process in Somalia.“
