Kampala, 10 August 2026 — The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) is pleased with the massive turnout registered as the ongoing physical recruitment exercise commenced today across the country. This overwhelming response reflects the strong commitment of Ugandans to serve their nation, and the UPDF extends its appreciation to all candidates who have come forward.
In light of this encouraging participation, and following public request, the UPDF 2026 recruitment center for candidates from Namutumba District, which had earlier been designated as Jinja, has now been changed to Iganga District. The exercise will take place on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, as scheduled. This adjustment has been made to ease participation, given Iganga’s closer proximity to Namutumba, and to ensure that all eligible candidates are served in a convenient and orderly manner.
The UPDF remains committed to conducting recruitment in a manner that is responsive to the needs of the people, while upholding transparency, fairness, and national service values. All candidates from Namutumba District are therefore advised to report to Iganga District on the stated date.
