UPDF Air Force Commissions New Infrastructure At Entebbe Primary School

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces – Air Force has commissioned new infrastructure at Air Force Primary School Entebbe, aimed at improving learning conditions, sanitation, and staff accommodation at the institution.

The facilities include a multipurpose main hall, a classroom block, teacher accommodation units, waterborne toilet facilities, bathrooms, and an incinerator.

The UPDF Air Force, under the guidance of Commander Air Force Lieutenant General Charles Okidi, supported the construction of teachers’ accommodation units, while Water For People Uganda (a Non-Governmental organization), through the Ministry of Education and Entebbe Municipal Council, donated two blocks of waterborne toilets and the municipal council also facilitated the construction of a two-classroom block.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Deputy Commander of the Air Force, Maj Gen David Isimbwa, commended the partnership behind the project, saying:

“This collaboration between the UPDF Air Force, Entebbe Municipal Council, and our development partners is improving hygiene, dignity, and the overall learning environment for our learners.”

He emphasised the importance of sanitation facilities, particularly those supporting menstrual hygiene management, noting:

“When we invest in proper sanitation, especially for girls, we are directly supporting retention in school and healthier learning conditions.”

Maj Gen Isimbwa reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to education infrastructure development and pledged continued engagement with engineering teams to address drainage challenges affecting the school due to runoff from nearby installations.

He said that plans to improve shared sports facilities between the school and neighbouring institutions, as well as broader infrastructure development initiatives across UPDF educational establishments in Entebbe and other parts of the country.

The Head teacher, Tumusiime Merida Kaggwe highlighted the school’s achievements in academics and co-curricular activities, citing strong performance in national athletics competitions that has boosted the school’s profile.

“We are grateful for the continued support from the UPDF and government stakeholders, which has driven steady academic and infrastructural growth.”

The works were implemented by Skymax Services Limited and Sesami Engineering Company Limited, with support from partners including Water For People Uganda and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, among others.

The commissioning ceremony brought together education officials, community leaders, development partners, and UPDF representatives.
