Air Force Secondary School Receives ICT Equipment to Boost Digital Literacy

The United Nations (UN) has donated an assortment of computers and printers to Air Force Secondary School as part of its broader initiative to promote digital inclusion in schools across Uganda. The contribution is aimed at equipping learners with essential technological tools to help bridge the digital divide among children.

While receiving the donation, the Director Human Resource Management – Air Force, Brig Gen Richard Rubongoya, on behalf of the Chief of Staff – Air Force, emphasized that if properly utilized, the equipment would significantly enhance the education of students by providing them with skills relevant to today’s digital society.

“The world is digital, and we have to embrace it,” Brig Gen Rubongoya said. He urged students and teachers to take good care of the equipment to ensure it serves future learners.

Col Robert Ngabirano, the Director of Education, Sports and Culture in the Air Force, appreciated the UN’s support. He noted that the donation would boost digital literacy and prepare students with the knowledge and competencies needed to succeed in the job market.

Maj Nathan Mpairwe highlighted the school’s diverse student population, which includes both children of military personnel and civilians, as a key reason for more support in the future.

Present were: Paulin Djomo Metanhi, the Director of the United Nations Regional Service Centre, Entebbe, Mr Emmanuel Ngor, the Chief of United Nations Field Regional Technological Services Entebbe, Florence Keter the Programme Manager for UN C4ISR Academy for Operations at UN Regional Service Centre Entebbe and other officials from UN Regional Service Centre.
