CDF Inspects UPDF Headquarters Project, Urges Engineers to Expedite Completion

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has urged the UPDF Engineers Brigade to expedite construction of the new Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) headquarters, demanding that the two buildings be completed within the next eleven months.

The CDF made the directive during an inspection visit to the construction site, where he assessed the progress of the buildings, which are now nearly 50% complete.

He was taken on a detailed tour of the facility and received assurances that the project would be ready for occupation within the specified timeframe.

General Kainerugaba had presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the project in August of last year and returned to evaluate its advancement one year after its launch.

The future headquarters is expected to be equipped with cutting-edge technology and modern facilities.

During the inspection, the CDF was accompanied by the Chief of Joint Staff, Lt Gen Jack Bakasumba, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Edith Butuuro, among other senior UPDF and MODVA officials.

According to one of the lead engineers, Lt Col Robert Chabo, the headquarters will be ready. He noted that the buildings are now at the third level with only two more floors to be added.
