Motorised Infantry Division, Air Force College Inspected Ahead Of CDF Drill Competition

A joint inspection team from the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces headquarters led by the Joint Staff Logistics, Brigadier General Edwin Karugaba, has inspected the drill preparations of the Motorised Infantry Division and Uganda Air Force College at Nakasongola Cantonment ahead of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Inter-Forces Drill Competition scheduled for July 2026.

Brig Gen Karugaba praised the Motorised Infantry Division for its performance, noting that the unit had demonstrated impressive progress within a short preparation period.

“What you have achieved in this short time is commendable. You have challenged expectations, but now focus on perfecting the remaining areas as advised,” he said.

He emphasised the need for strict adherence to competition guidelines, adding, “Only those drills that meet the required standards will qualify. Pay attention to detail and remove what is not recommended.”

Major General Charles Byanyima, Commander of the Motorised Infantry Division, urged the troops to remain confident and focus on excellence beyond the competition.

“Do not only think about the award. Focus on mastering the drills because they are essential to your professionalism and effectiveness in the field,” he said, pledging full support to the teams up to the final event.

At the Uganda Air Force College, the Commandant, Brig Gen Allan Kalanzi commended personnel for their teamwork and discipline, encouraging them to maintain focus as they continue preparations.

“Teamwork and discipline will determine your success. Keep building on what you have started and remain focused,” he said.

The inspection team included officers from Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) among them, Col Suzan Oruni Lakot and Lt Col Geoffrey Kafuuma.

Senior officers who attended the inspection included Col Samuel Ssekamwa, Intelligence Officer, Motorised Infantry Division; Col Esibio Omaria, Operations and Training Officer; and Col Ali James Uma, Chief Instructor, Uganda Air Force College Nakasongola, among others.
