CDF Drill Competition

Lt Gen Okiding Applauds Military Police As Drill Competition Nears

The Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Samuel Okiding, has commended the Military Police for their exemplary performance ahead of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Interforce Drill Competition which is slated to be held on 14 May 2025 at Kololo Independence Grounds.

Lt Gen Okiding made the remarks during his assessment visit at Makindye Military Police Brigade headquarters.

He stated that “these drills are fundamental to maintaining our forces’ professionalism, alertness and combat readiness,” praising the Military Police for having “not only met but exceeded all requirements.”

He urged participants to maintain their high standards while continuing to refine their skills.

Brig Gen William Bainomugisha, Commandant of the Military Police Brigade, emphasised the critical role of drills in military discipline, explaining that “drills shape how soldiers move, respond to commands, and maintain bearing,” and stressing the need to “treat them as more than just training exercises.”

The competition, launched on 15 February in Bombo, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance operational readiness across the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF).

Senior officials in attendance included Brig Gen Kagyenyi, the Deputy Inspector General, Col Namanya Napoleon, Col Musenene (BOTO), as well as various department heads.
