UPDF Inspires Future Leaders At Kings College Budo Career Day

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) joined a wide array of esteemed institutions for the annual Career Day at Kings College Budo, offering students valuable insight into career possibilities and national service.

Representing the UPDF was a team lead by Major Bilal Katamba, Acting Deputy Director of Defence Public Information, who encouraged students to embrace patriotism, discipline, and a commitment to serving Uganda.

Dr Connie Nshemereirwe, Director at Future Africa, delivered the keynote address, urging students to aim high and pursue their passions with dedication. She encouraged self-discovery, advising: “Once you’re done with school and happen to get a job, use that chance to get another job,” and warned against complacency when better opportunities arise.

Head Teacher Canon John Fred Kazibwe commended the event, noting that all participating speakers and institutions had been thoughtfully chosen. “Career guidance is a cornerstone of our academic mission,” he said.

The event featured exhibitions from top organisations including Uganda Christian University, DFCU Bank, Uganda Police, TotalEnergies, and the National Water and Sewerage Corporation, each presenting a range of professional pathways for students to explore.
