He made the remarks during a meeting with His Excellency Hugues Chantry, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Uganda, who paid a courtesy call to the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs Headquarters in Mbuya.
Hon. Oboth expressed appreciation for Belgium’s longstanding partnership with Uganda and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to deepening defence cooperation.
Hon. Oboth stated that Uganda’s strong relationships with its neighbours make it unique and emphasized that strengthening these bonds can “enhance mutual understanding.”
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lt Gen Sam Okiding; Chief Joint Staff, Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba; Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, Brig Gen Abdul Rugumayo; Acting Director Defence Public Information, Col Chris Magezi and the Defence Attaché to Bujumbura (Belgium), Col Michel Recour, among others.
