Gen Saleh Calls For Review Of Caged-Fishing And Coffee-Farming Projects

The Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), Gen (Rtd) Caleb Akandwanaho, commonly known as Gen Salim Saleh, has called for a review of cage-fishing projects along the River Nile, in Moyo, Mayuge and Amolatar, as well as coffee-farming activities in Patongo.

Gen Saleh made the call during a stakeholder meeting at Kirema Heritage Farm in Nakaseke District, where he emphasised the need for stronger oversight of agricultural programmes and increased investment in fish farming to improve household incomes, create employment and expand access to markets.

The meeting also reviewed key government priorities in the fisheries sector, including financing, protection of fish breeding grounds, regulation and community empowerment.

State Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon. Robert Migadde, urged stakeholders to maintain high standards in fish production to enhance Uganda’s competitiveness in regional markets.

OWC Conducts Senior Leadership Handover Ceremonies

Meanwhile, OWC has concluded a series of senior leadership handover and takeover ceremonies following recent appointments within the entity.

Maj Gen (Rtd) David Wakaalo handed over the Directorate of Political Affairs to Brig Gen (Rtd) Jacob Asimwe, while Brig Gen (Rtd) JB Mulindwa handed over the Fruits and Horticulture Units to Maj Gen (Rtd) Mateeka.

Dr Fred Muhumuza handed over the Directorate of Investment and Private Sector Development to Mr Allio Emmanuel Ewaku. Hon. Sarah Kataike Ndoboli, who was appointed Principal Advisor to Gen Saleh, handed over the Directorate of Policy, Planning and Development Strategy to Dr Arigye Eugene.

The ceremonies were presided over by the Chief Staff Officer, OWC, Brig Gen James Kaija, and brought together directors, departmental heads, staff officers and other officials.
