The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) conducted a free medical outreach camp in Kisimula Parish, Kapeeka Sub-county, Nakaseke District, providing essential healthcare services to residents.
The initiative was organized by UGABAG XLIV undergoing pre-mission training at the International Peace Support Operations Training Centre (IPSO-TC) in Singo.
The medical camp offered a range of services, including outpatient care, blood pressure screening, laboratory tests for HIV, hepatitis B, syphilis, and malaria, as well as guidance and counselling.
Captain Olivia Mugisha, the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) officer for UGABAG XLIV, emphasized that the outreach aimed to extend medical services to the local community and strengthen ties by addressing residents’ health concerns.
Lt Dr Victoria Namagga, the medical officer for UGABAG XLIV, highlighted the broader role of the military in civilian protection, stating, “Security is not just about military protection; it also involves social and economic well-being. We are here to protect civilians and preserve their health.”
Mr. Kyeyune John, the district councillor representing Kapeeka Sub-county, expressed gratitude to the UPDF for the initiative and urged the force to continue conducting similar outreach programs regularly to benefit more communities.
