Major General Kavuma Urges Troops To Reflect On Conscious Discipline

The Deputy Chief Coordinator, Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) Maj Gen Sam Kavuma has urged troops in the Bunyoro region to reflect on the ethos on which the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces is anchored.

Maj Gen Kavuma made the remarks during the Chief of Defence Forces Mobilisation in the region.

Maj Gen Kavuma reminded the troops that the success of the UPDF over the past 42 years has been anchored on the characteristics of conscious discipline, patriotism, sacrifice, Pan-Africanism the strategic relationship with the ‘wanainchi’ and fighting spirit. He said that because of the conscious discipline of 42 National Resistance Army members with only 27 guns they managed to survive and defeat two armies of Amin and Obote.

He reminded troops that despite the different religions and tribes they come from while joining the army, they created one tribe and religion which is UPDF.

He implored troops to know and understand very well the beauty of Uganda which is endowed with natural resources, beautiful weather, fertile soils, lakes and mountains and sacrifice and defend Uganda jealously with the support of ‘wanainchi.’ He cautioned and urged troops not to harass, intimidate, torture, or yell at ‘wanaichi’ and always remember they are the strength of the UPDF.

He informed troops that the environment has been degraded and destroyed by population growth and many other factors and it is their duty to defend and protect the environment by stopping deforestation, tree planting as an institution, individual and family at any time and everywhere.

The General was accompanied by Brig Gen Mike Nyarwa, Brig Gen Charles Byanyima, Brig Gen Daniel Kakono, Col Okolebu, Col Betty Musuya
