Lt Gen Muhanga Reminds Troops Of Their Role In Achieving Socio-economic Transformation

The Commander Land Force, Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga has reminded troops of the 5 Infantry Division that the historical mission of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces is to support the socio-economic transformation of Uganda and in particular execute its the core functions as contained in Article 209 of the Uganda Constitution. He said this during the ongoing annual Chief of Defence Forces Unitds Mobilisation at the 5 Infantry Division Headquarters in Acholi Pii.

Lt Gen Muhanga emphasized love for one’s Nation (patriotism) as a core value to propel all men in uniform while on duty. He reminded the troops that ever since its formation, the UPDF has gone through tremendous growth and said that with the progress made this far, the sky is the limit. He further said that the vision of the leadership is to ensure that the UPDF is more advanced and well-facilitated.

The CLF commended the troops on their contribution, especially in blocking warriors from both Karamoja and South Sudan. He encouraged the troops to be disciplined, physically fit, and keep in good health for they are the generals of tomorrow.
