A tragic incident occurred yesterday at around 1600 hours in Nimu Village, Pawo West Parish, Lukungu Sub-County, Lamwo District, when a civilian was killed by an unexploded ordnance (UXO) suspected to have been left behind during the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency.
The deceased, identified as Mrs. Ayao Esther, 47, was tending to her garden when the ordnance detonated, leading to her death. Her body has been taken to Lamwo Health Centre for a postmortem examination.
The 5 Division Commander, Major General Keith Katungi, has condoled with the family and urged residents to exercise caution and report any suspicious objects resembling ordnance to security forces emphasising the importance of vigilance to prevent further tragedies.
