UNGU Trainees Urged to Maintain Discipline Throughout Training

The Commandant of the International Peace Support Operations Training Centre (IPSO-TC), Col Moses Nabaasa, has urged trainees of the United Nations Guard Unit Twelve (UNGU XII) undergoing pre-mission training to maintain the highest standards of discipline.

Col Nabaasa made the remarks while officiating at the opening of a ten-week programme for 625 personnel at IPSO-TC in Nakaseke District.

He outlined key expectations for the trainees, including cooperation and teamwork, physical fitness, combat readiness, proper weapons maintenance, marksmanship, endurance, and sustained morale.

Quoting the school’s motto, “Together for a Peaceful World,” Col Nabaasa praised the vision of the Commander-in-Chief, Gen (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, noting that his Pan-Africanist ideals have enabled Uganda to make significant contributions to peace missions across the continent.

UNGU XII Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Nathan Akankunda, warned trainees against indiscipline, urging them to respect their instructors and follow school regulations to ensure a successful course.

Established in 2014, the United Nations Guard Unit provides security for UN staff, facilities, and installations, protecting against threats such as Al-Shabaab attacks through professional guarding services.

The ceremony was attended by senior and junior UPDF officers from IPSO-TC.
