UPDF 4 Infantry Division Graduates 33 Soldiers From Signal Course

Thirty-three soldiers of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 4 Infantry Division have graduated after completing a six-month basic Communication, Information Technology and Signals (CITS) regiment course at the Division Headquarters in Gulu.

The ceremony was presided over by Brigadier General Jackson Kayanja, the Division’s Deputy Commander, on behalf of the Division Commander.

He congratulated the graduates and urged them to uphold discipline as the cornerstone of professional growth in the army. “You have just started your communication journey. You must remain loyal and ensure there is no information leakage through the establishment of Security, Accuracy, and Discipline,” Brig Gen Kayanja said.

He stressed that the UPDF’s reputation as a strong people’s force, both domestically and internationally, rests on continuous training and professionalism.

Lieutenant Colonel Heavenfall Apollo, Land Force Director of CITS, who represented the Joint Staff CITS Col Simon Mwebaza, commended the trainees for their dedication and discipline throughout the course.

He underscored the crucial role communication plays in military operations. “Signal officers always receive information before leaders. It is therefore important to protect the destination of information to safeguard the security of our forces,” Lt Col Apollo emphasised.

Captain Marion Alum, Commanding Officer of the 4 CITS Squadron, said the course aimed to produce skilled personnel capable of improving service delivery across UPDF formations.

The event was attended by senior officers from the Division administration and staff, together with families and well-wishers of the graduates.
