Lt Gen Okiding Commends UPDF Recruits as Training Exercise Concludes

Recruits undergoing the Basic Military Training Course Intake 17/24-25 at the Basic Military Training School in Kaweweta have successfully completed their week-long final field exercise, code-named “Dumisha Usalama.” The exercise concluded on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in their training.

Presiding over the closure of the exercise, the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lt Gen Sam Okiding, commended the trainees for their mastery of military operations, command, and control. He expressed confidence in their readiness to undertake future assignments and advanced courses.

Lt Gen Okiding praised the discipline and endurance demonstrated by the recruits throughout the exercise. However, he cautioned them against reckless lifestyles, alcoholism, and promiscuity, urging them to uphold professionalism and integrity in their military careers.

Quoting Proverbs 3:6 and 4:23 from the Bible, he advised the trainees: “Always remember the Lord in everything you do, for He will show you the right path.”

He also commended the Commandant and training staff for their dedication in transforming the recruits into capable military personnel.

The trainees, who began their training on September 2, 2024, are set to pass out soon.

The event was attended by the Joint Staff Training and Doctrine, Brig Gen Alex Olupot; Commandant of the Basic Military Training School, Kaweweta, Brig Gen Bonny Wolimbwa, as well as instructors, senior officers, and junior officers.
