UPDF Receives Paint Donation Worth UGX 63 Million from Sadolin

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has today received a donation of paint worth Uganda Shillings 63 million from Sadolin Paint Uganda to support the forthcoming Tarehe Sita Anniversary celebrations. The event is set to take place in the Greater Masaka region, comprising nine districts and one city.

While receiving the donation, the Director Civil-Military Cooperation, Brig Gen Michael Kibuye, expressed gratitude to Sadolin for their generous contribution.

“Paint worth UGX 63 million is not a small contribution; it is significant and will go a long way in colouring Greater Masaka. This paint will be delivered today to the region, which will serve as the centre of this year’s Tarehe Sita activities. We shall ensure that the painting is completed as part of these celebrations,” Brig Gen Kibuye said.

Col Deo Akiiki, the Deputy Director Defence Public Information, emphasised the importance of partnerships in meeting the needs of communities during Tarehe Sita activities.

“When we assess the needs of these regions, they often amount to billions, but the needs often far exceed our budget, sometimes reaching wish lists of UGX 50 billion,” he explained.

Col Akiiki further said, “We focus on quick-impact projects that immediately benefit the community. Tarehe Sita is unique because it involves physical action, leaving a tangible impact on the people we serve. It’s not just about celebrating our birthday; it’s about giving back to the community,” he said.

Mr. Ashish Devani, on behalf of Sadolin Paint Uganda, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting community-focused initiatives. “Sadolin has been part of Uganda for over 50 years, and our success is tied to the people of this country. We are proud to partner with the UPDF for Tarehe Sita because it is an opportunity to give back to the community that has supported us for decades,” he said.

The Tarehe Sita celebrations are celebrated annually to commemorate the day (6 February) when the guerrilla war was launched following the attack on Kabamba.
