UPDF Marks 45th Tarehe Sita Anniversary With Community Outreach In South Sudan

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) in South Sudan, under Operation Mulinzi wa Kimya, marked the 45th Tarehe Sita Anniversary with a series of civil–military activities.

The celebrations were officiated by the Special Forces Command (SFC) Component Commander in South Sudan, Col JM Kabila, on behalf of the Joint Task Force Commander Brig Gen Anthony Lukwago Mbuusi.

Col Kabila underscored the core values of Tarehe Sita, describing the day as a symbol of patriotism, Pan-Africanism, and selfless service. He paid tribute to serving officers, veterans, and fallen heroes from both Uganda and South Sudan for their discipline, loyalty, and contribution to regional peace, security, and stability.

As part of the anniversary activities, Col Kabila, together with the Mangalla Payam Director, Mr Juma Marcellino Sebur, commissioned a newly constructed pit latrine at Dingdong Primary School.

Among other activities, the UPDF medical team conducted a two-day free medical outreach in Mangalla Payam and at Dingdong Primary School, benefiting more than 1,500 residents. The medical services covered a wide range of conditions, including infectious diseases, cardiovascular illnesses, respiratory disorders, endocrine and metabolic diseases, and gynaecological conditions.

Speaking on behalf of the local authorities, Mr Sebur thanked the UPDF for demonstrating brotherhood and solidarity with the people of South Sudan, and for extending free medical services to the Mangalla Payam community and Dingdong Primary School.

Lt Col Alex Habyona, who represented the Battle Group Commander, Col Bernard Kashemeza, urged residents to maintain the spirit of brotherhood, noting that Uganda and South Sudan share deep historical and cultural ties.

The event was attended by Asset Commander Steven Namolo, Maj Benon Bamuhimbise, and the Gondokoro Payam Director, Mr Karlo Insak, among other officials.
