The exercise, which started at the Division Headquarters, brought together officers and militants in a show of discipline, teamwork, and physical endurance.
Maj Gen Muhanguzi underscored the importance of physical fitness in sustaining operational readiness.
“The purpose of the route march is to check troop and combat readiness. We regularly conduct such exercises as part of our military planning to ensure that all personnel remain fit and prepared,” he said.
He added that the march promotes teamwork, unity of purpose, and cohesion among military formations, values that are vital in both peace and wartime operations.
Route marches are a long-standing UPDF tradition designed to enhance physical fitness, reinforce discipline, and strengthen coordination across units.
The exercise serves as a practical test of endurance, helping soldiers build resilience and synchronisation in field operations.
