The Armoured Division of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) recently held a distinguished farewell ceremony at Kasijjagirwa, Masaka District, to honour retiring Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs).
The ceremony’s Chief Guest, Mr Hudu Hussein, Masaka City’s Resident City Commissioner (RCC), praised the retirees for their exemplary service, commending their patience, tolerance, honesty, and discipline.
Mr Hussein encouraged them to carry these values forward as ambassadors in civilian life and advised them to engage in developmental activities, such as farming, to enhance their livelihoods.
Brigadier General Deus Sande, Commander of the Armoured Division, expressed his gratitude to the NCOs for their dedicated service to the nation. He recognised their sacrifices and contributions to the military and assured them of their continued place in the UPDF family, noting they may still be called upon when needed.
Brig Gen Sande advised the retirees to maintain their health and physical fitness, to manage finances wisely, and to invest in developmental activities, encouraging a culture of saving.
The event was attended by RCCs, Regional Police Commanders (RPCs), District Police Commanders (DPCs), senior officers, junior officers, soldiers, and family members, underscoring the importance of the occasion.
