Strategic leaders from Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) have highlighted the agency’s vital role in advancing Uganda’s National Development Plan IV (NDP IV) during a five-day OWC retreat at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi, which began earlier this week.
Ambassador Philip Idro said, “OWC is committed to transforming the President’s vision for socio-economic advancement into actionable strategies.” The NDP IV includes 18 targeted programmes aimed at promoting sustained growth and development across Uganda.
Colonel (Retired) Julius Bakirana, OWC liaison officer under the National Planning Authority (NPA), stressed the need for coordinated efforts among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). “OWC’s role is to ensure that all MDAs work together effectively and efficiently to promote inclusive development across Uganda,” he said, emphasising the collaborative approach essential for achieving national development goals.
Panellists also examined innovative strategies to implement the Ten-Fold Growth agenda, focusing on economic expansion through Agro-Industrialisation, Tourism, Minerals, and Science and Technology (ATMS). Colonel Victor Opera remarked, “These sectors are pivotal drivers for Uganda’s overall growth and development.” OWC officers remain focused and committed to these strategic priorities, working diligently to drive socio-economic transformation.
Mr Twinobusingye Severino reiterated OWC’s dedication to fulfilling its mandate within the framework set by the Head of State. “Article 99 of Uganda’s Constitution grants the President significant authority, and OWC is fully dedicated to implementing the President’s directives,” he said.
With a target to raise Uganda’s GDP from $58 billion to $500 billion over the next 15 years, OWC is set to play a critical role in shaping the nation’s development trajectory.
Dr Arigye added, “OWC is committed to identifying sustainable solutions to enhance the nation’s progress toward a prosperous future.”
Through collaboration and adherence to the President’s vision, OWC is strategically positioned to advance Uganda’s growth, foster socio-economic transformation, and secure a brighter future for the country.
