The 32nd National Agricultural Show 2026 was officially opened at the National Show Grounds in Jinja on Tuesday 30th June 2026, with the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, representing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as guest of honour.
Ms Nabbanja launched the Wealth Creation Village, an exhibition established by Operation Wealth Creation [OWC] to showcase government interventions aimed at transforming agriculture and improving household incomes.
In her address, the Prime Minister delivered the President’s message, in which he commended OWC as “a cornerstone of Uganda’s socio-economic transformation agenda”. President Museveni particularly applauded the programme and its Chief Coordinator, Gen. Salim Saleh, for their “significant contribution to increasing household incomes and transitioning Ugandans from subsistence farming to the commercial money economy”.
“The National Agricultural Show is unique because it brings together all key players in the agricultural sector, providing a platform for knowledge sharing, innovation, technology transfer, and business networking,” the President said. He urged Ugandans “to take full advantage of the opportunities presented through the exhibitions to improve agricultural productivity and incomes”.
President Museveni also commended the Parish Development Model, implemented with the support of Operation Wealth Creation, for “empowering communities to move from poverty to prosperity”. He further expressed appreciation to the Government of Japan for its “continued support towards Uganda’s agricultural development and economic growth”.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation, Brig. Gen. G.K. Muwanguzi encouraged Ugandans “to invest in agriculture as a sustainable pathway to wealth creation”. He emphasised that farmers could access quality agricultural inputs, including seedlings, value-addition technologies, and modern farming innovations through OWC, “all of which are essential for increasing production, productivity, and household incomes”.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Director of the Uganda National Farmers Federation, Mr Dick Kamuganga; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Ms Asha Mary Oriabweteire; the Ambassador of Japan to Uganda, H.E. Sasayama Takuya; Uganda’s Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Tophace Kaahwa; the Commander of the National Crop Resources Research Institute [NCOA] Jinja, Brig. Gen.
