Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba, Chief of Joint Staff, has called on logistics personnel within the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) to shun corruption, emphasising its critical role in ensuring effective logistics management and operational excellence.
Speaking at the opening of a week-long retreat for logistics officers at the College of Logistics and Engineering in Magamaga, Maj Gen Bakasumba remarked that such retreats are vital for enhancing ideological clarity, fostering cohesion, instilling discipline, promoting mindset change, and nurturing a spirit of patriotism.
He acknowledged the myriad conflicts facing Africa, underscoring the need for a robust logistics capacity to support various operations as required. He commended the UPDF for its progress, particularly in logistics, which serves as a cornerstone for bolstering capabilities and addressing challenges to develop a multi-dimensional force for future generations.
Brig Gen Godwin Karugaba, Joint Staff Logistics, explained that the retreat aims to strengthen collaboration among logistics departments. He also highlighted the event as an opportunity to realign and rejuvenate logistics in accordance with the Commander-in-Chief’s directives on ideological clarity.
