Maj Gen Nabasa Advises Troops To Invest Wisely As Lt Col Odeke Assumes  Command Of 203 AAC Brigade

The UPDF 3 Infantry Division Commander Maj Gen Don William Nabasa has today appealed to troops to carefully invest in income-generating activities that will support them even after retirement.

 

“Invest in projects that will not take up over 80 percent of your budget,” he advised.

 

He made the remarks while presiding over the hand/take over ceremony of the office of the Commander 203 Anti Air Craft (AAA) Brigade from Col Robert Katanaka to Lt Col Moses Odeke at Moroto army barracks.

 

Col Katanaka, the (Outgoing) Commander of 203 Anti Air Craft (AAC) Brigade is set to retire by the end of April 24. “I commend Col Katanaka for boosting formation’s manpower and conducting refresher training to enhance soldiers’ capacity, among other achievements,” Maj Gen Nabasa noted.

 

He implored commanders and key staff officers to support the new Brigade leadership.

 

Maj Gen Nabasa advised officers set for retirement to invest wisely and cautioned them against undertaking projects that would drain their resources as a whole without due consideration to proper managerial skills.

 

The presiding officer noted that military service gives its personnel a series of special skills, discipline and flexibility necessary for one to adjust to meaningful living even in retirement life.

 

Speaking at the same function, the Deputy 3 Division Commander Brig Gen Felix Busizoori, thanked Col Katanaka for diligently serving for 40 years, saying it has been a ‘reckonable period’. He urged troops to emulate the same good conduct.

 

Col Robert Katanaka going forward, acknowledged the tremendous support from the UPDF leadership while executing his duties and responsibilities.   He also appreciated the Division leadership for embracing the Brigade in its command and administrative structures at all levels especially after the dissolution of the former Air Defence Division.

 

The Outgoing 203 AAC Commander noted that discipline, resilience and integrity continue to be the benchmarks that move the brigade to greater heights.

 

In his acceptance remarks, Lt Col Odeke thanked the army leadership and his predecessor (Col Katanaka) for entrusting him with the new task and good mentorship.

 

The hand and take-over ceremony was also attended by UPDF Senior and Junior Officers from the 203 AAC Brigade level.
